Thank you to all of the drivers, travelers, and employees  who have helped us get off to a great start with the Midway Modernization Program. 

As the construction affects more areas in and around the airport, we will continue to provide updates to help you plan accordingly. 

There will be both short-term and long-term lane closures on roads near Midway during construction of the security checkpoint/bridge expansion project. Changes to traffic patterns near Midway began in mid-January 2018. Check back for future updates.

TSA Screening Lanes Open in North Security Bridge Ahead of Holiday Travel Season Marking Key Milestone for Checkpoint Project and Modernization Program
Several TSA screening lanes are now permanently relocated to the new north bridge of the security checkpoint approximately 100 feet from their old location. The new checkpoint marks a key milestone for the Midway Modernization Program.

Keep up with Ground Transportation Pickup/Drop-off Areas During the Busy Summer Travel Season
Some of the pickup/drop-off areas for ground transportation services have moved temporarily to accommodate construction of the Midway Modernization security checkpoint expansion project.
Cicero Avenue Sidewalk Closes Mid-September for Remainder of Modernization Construction
Sidewalks along the west side of Cicero Avenue between 55th and 59th Streets will close beginning the week of September 17, 2018 and will remain closed for the duration of construction.
Garage Construction Begins - Changes for Kilpatrick Ave., CTA Parking Lots and Pedestrian Traffic
​The garage expansion project is now underway and will affect driver access on Kilpatrick Avenue, pedestrian access to the CTA Orange Line, and parking access in CTA lots starting in late July. Signs and traffic guides will be in place to help drivers and pedestrians adjust to the temporary changes.

Extended Lane Closures on South Cicero Av. in Effect
One lane of traffic is closed in each direction on S. Cicero Av. next to Midway in between West 56th St. and West 61st St. The closures reduce Cicero Av. from six lanes to four lanes for about a 1/4 of a mile with access for local traffic maintained with two lanes open in both directions.
